Christmas Light Installation Near Me: What to Ask

By , Owner ·

A holiday lighting crew on ladders at a gray brick home in daylight, one fitting lights along the roofline and one wrapping the trunk of a large front-yard oak

Ask six things: who designs the lighting and whether you see it first, whose lights go on the house, what happens when something goes out in December, when the lights come down, whether the company is insured, and what you need to do on install day. The answers tell you whether you are buying a string of lights on a roof or a Christmas season you never have to think about.

Searching for Christmas light installation near you turns up a lot of names and very little that helps you choose. So here are the questions we would want answered in your place, and how we answer each one.

Who designs it, and will you see it before you commit?

This is the question that separates lights on a house from a lit house.

A good design starts with the architecture. Which rooflines describe the shape of the home from the street, and which ones disappear? Is there a gable or an arched entry that deserves its own line? Is the big oak out front part of the picture, or would lighting it pull the eye away from the door?

Our design consultation is online. You send your address and a few photos, and we design from those plus satellite and street views. Then we draw the scheme on a photo of your own home, so you approve a picture rather than a paragraph. Changes are easy at that stage: add the trees along the drive, swap warm white for multicolor, leave a back roofline dark. For larger estate properties an on-site walkthrough is available on request.

Only once you like what you see does anything get reserved. A 50% deposit reserves your installation date.

Do I need to buy any lights?

No. We supply commercial-grade LED lights, leased for the season, and we do not install customer-owned lights.

That matters more than it sounds. Because the lights stay in our care, every run is custom-fit to your home before the crew arrives, so a roofline reads as one clean line rather than a string that comes up short at the corner or bunches at the end. And because they go back with us after the season, there is nothing to buy, store or untangle. Next December the boxes are not in your garage, because there were never any boxes for you to keep.

What happens if a light goes out in December?

Ask this one plainly, because a dark section in the middle of the season is when you find out what you paid for.

In-season maintenance is part of what we do. If a bulb, a run or a timer fails, you tell us and the issue is addressed within 48 business hours. Nobody in your house climbs anything. One point of contact looks after your account, and the whole team has your file, so whoever you reach can act on it straight away.

When do the lights come down, and who takes them?

The lights stay up through Christmas and New Year's, and removal begins January 2. We take everything down and the lights come back with us.

Nobody needs to be home for the installation or for the removal, unless the work is inside the home. You can be at work, at the lake or visiting family. The first sign of the takedown is a house that looks the way it did in October.

Are you insured, and do you work where I live?

Two short questions worth asking anyone who is going to be on your roof.

Insured with $2 million in general liability coverage, and a certificate of insurance is available on request. If you live in a community that asks vendors for one before they work, we can send it.

As for where: We serve all of Dallas–Fort Worth, and travel beyond it for the right project. The neighborhoods on our service areas page are examples of where we work, not a fence around it.

What do you need from me on install day?

Very little. All we need from you on install day is working exterior outlets on the outside of the home.

The decisions were all made at the design stage, so there is nothing to choose or approve on the day. The crew arrives with your design and your lights already fitted to it, installs what you signed off on, and sets the timer to the hours you prefer.

What should you have ready when you call?

Three things make the first conversation useful: your address, a few photos from the street (one straight on and one from each side is plenty), and a rough idea of what you want lit. If you already know you want the roofline, the oaks out front and the walk to the door, say so. If you only know you want the house to feel like Christmas when you pull into the drive, that is a fine place to start too. Working out the rest is what the design conversation is for.

Picture coming home on a cold December evening and seeing the house already glowing at the end of the street, without ever having touched a ladder. That is what you are booking.

Request a design consultation and we will reply within one business day to start your design. The residential page lists every element a design can include, from rooflines and windows to hand-wrapped trunks and pathways.

Common questions

Christmas Light Installation Near Me: What to Ask: common questions

What should I ask before booking Christmas light installation?

Ask who designs the lighting and whether you see it before you pay, whose lights go on the house, what happens if something goes out in December, when and how the lights come down, whether the company is insured, and what they need from you on install day.

Do I have to buy the Christmas lights?

No. The lights are leased to you for the season and stay in our care. We install our own commercial-grade LED lights, custom-fit to your home, and take them back after the season, so there is nothing to buy, store or untangle. We do not install customer-owned lights.

What if a Christmas light goes out after it is installed?

Tell us and we fix it. In-season maintenance is part of the service, and issues are addressed within 48 business hours. You never get a ladder out, and removal begins January 2, so the end of the season is handled too.
