When to Book Holiday Lighting in Dallas-Fort Worth

Book as early in the season as you can. Requests across Dallas-Fort Worth peak in the first half of November, and installations are typically scheduled from late October through early December, so the earlier your design is approved and your date is reserved, the more installation dates there are to choose from. Everything after that is logistics we handle.

That is the whole answer, but it is worth knowing why the calendar behaves the way it does, and what actually has to happen between your first message and the night the lights come on.

When do holiday lighting requests peak in DFW?

The first half of November. That is when most of the metroplex decides it wants lights, and it is the single most useful fact to plan around.

What makes it matter is that the peak in requests and the window for installations are not the same thing. Installation is typically scheduled from late October through early December. So the requests arrive in a short burst in November, and they have to be fitted into a window that started before the burst and ends not long after it. The people who booked in September and October are already in that window. Everyone who arrives in the burst is choosing from what is left.

Booking early does not make the season longer. It just means you pick your date instead of being assigned one.

What has to happen before your lights go up?

Four things, and only one of them is the installation.

First, the design consultation. Ours is online by default: you send your address and a few photos, and we design from those plus satellite and street views. There is no appointment to schedule and nobody has to be home. For larger estate, HOA and commercial properties, an on-site walkthrough is available on request.

Second, the proposal. You get the design drawn on a photo of your own property, so you approve a picture rather than a paragraph. This is the stage where changes are easy — swapping warm white for candy cane, adding the trees along the drive, dropping a roofline that was never going to read from the street.

Third, the reservation. A 50% deposit reserves your installation date.

Fourth, the installation itself, on the date you reserved.

Each of those steps takes a little time, and they happen in order. That is the real reason early booking helps: you are not racing for an installation slot, you are starting a sequence that has to finish before the slot is usable.

How far ahead should you start?

Far enough that the first three steps are done before the November peak.

If you are reading this in October, you are in good shape — start now and you will almost certainly be choosing from a wide set of dates. If you are reading it in November, start today rather than at the weekend; the difference between the first week of November and the third is real.

Returning clients have the shortest path, because the design already exists. If you were lit with us last season and you want the same scheme, say so and we work from the design we already have. If you want changes, we start from last year's drawing rather than from scratch.

Does booking early mean the lights go up early?

No. Reserving a date and taking an installation date in late October are two different decisions.

Plenty of clients reserve in September or October and ask for an installation date in mid-November, because that is when they want the house lit. The reservation protects the date; it does not move it forward. If you want the lights on for a specific evening — a party, a family visit, the first weekend of December — tell us that date and we schedule backwards from it.

What happens after the lights are up?

The season is handled. In-season maintenance is part of the Premium Holiday Light Experience: if a bulb, a strand or a timer fails, the issue is addressed within 48 business hours. You do not get a ladder out and you do not go looking for a replacement.

Removal begins January 2. We take everything down, and the lights come back to us, because you lease them for the season rather than buying them. There is nothing to coil, store or find space for.

What should you have ready when you reach out?

Three things make the first exchange fast: your property address, a few photos from the street — one straight on and one from each side is plenty — and a rough idea of what you want lit. If you already know you want the roofline, the two oaks out front and the walkway, say so. If you have no idea, that is fine too; the design conversation exists for exactly that.

Then pick your date while the calendar is still wide open.

Request a design consultation and we will reply within one business day to start your design. If you were with us last season, rebook here instead and we will work from the design we already have.

Common questions

When to Book Holiday Lighting in Dallas-Fort Worth: common questions

When should I book holiday lighting in Dallas-Fort Worth?

Before the first half of November, which is when requests peak across the metroplex. Installations are typically scheduled from late October through early December, so booking ahead of the peak is what gives you a choice of dates rather than whatever is still open.

Is it too late to book in December?

Not necessarily, but your choice of dates narrows. Installation is typically scheduled from late October through early December, and the dates fill from the earliest bookings forward, so a December request is working with what is left of the season.

What happens if a light goes out after my installation?

Tell us and we handle it. In-season maintenance is part of the Premium Holiday Light Experience, and issues are addressed within 48 business hours. Removal begins January 2, so there is no step you have to take at the end of the season either.
